About Us
Jon, Debbie and Mark at the Big Misters sponsored Felixstowe Fun Run May 2005.
Jon Woods - Director
Jon started his shipping career with Hapag Lloyd in 1985 and has been involved in the Shipping and Transport Industry ever since.
In his spare time (about 10 mins every other month) Jon is a fully qualified UK Athletics Technical Official specialising as a Starter.
So if you want to start anything with Jon just remember he's got a gun !!!
Jon's love affair with all things flying began when in 1982 as a young man he joined the 356 (Felixstowe) Squadron Air Training Corps.
In later life Jon has been known to scare old people in Florida by attempting to captain the controls of a Warrior!
Mark Grix - Director
Mark started his Shipping career with the Trailer operator Portbridge Transport International and then moved to MAT. After 6 years on the port Mark decided it was time for a change of career and so he headed south to join the Police...to knock down doors and upset people!
Mark is also a Commercial Pilot, and says that flying is in his blood, having had a grand father that was a Squadron Leader flying Hurricanes in WW2, and a father that owns his own small aircraft.
Mark first went solo aged 16 at RAF Swanton Morley, and now holds a JAA Airline Transport Pilots Licence...he also flies Volvo T5's on the M25 !!!
Debbie Woods - Director
Debbie started her Shipping career in 1890...oops I mean...1990 with Cory Bros.
To her credit she later decided to put her career on hold in favour of giving her full attention to raising her two young children.
But she didn't lose touch with the industry, and when Big Misters was first launched, Debbie was at the forefront of the company's early decision making process...she's still a bully!!!
Debbie recently took to the air at the 2005 PFA Flying For Fun and seemed to enjoy her first taste of a light aircraft. Her bank manager is currently praying that she doesn't get the 'flying bug'!
Rob West - UK OPERATIONS MANAGER
Rob joined us in September 2005 and has already proven himself as a valued member of the team. Robs interests include watching video's, playing football and drinking 'After shocks' !
Rob is available to give advice on all aspects of your business be that import / export or logistics. Welcome to BIG MISTERS Rob !
Barney The Dog - Chairman
Barney the Dog has been with the company since early 2005 and is on hand to vet persons entering and leaving the offices. His interests include Bones, Chew Sticks and Trees. He likes to keep fit with long walks and running around in circles.
Like Mark and Jon, Barney also flies...after cats!
PS If anyone has seen Barneys tail please can they contact him !!!
Dave Bishop - Transport Manager
Dave started his Heavy Goods driving career over 30 years ago when everything was in black and white and still being delivered by steam. He then moved indoors working for Maersk before returning to the open road.
As a Class One driver and holder of a CPC, Dave looks after everything to do with the administration of Big Misters' Goods Vehicle Operators Licence.
Dave also has an active interest in all things flying, and can often be seen wandering round airfields with other Big Misters staff. if anyone finds him wandering elsewhere, please contact his wife who will arrange for the men in white coats to pick him up!
Please Note!
You will notice on this website that Big Misters are well regarded in the aviation industry and as a result there are a large number of items on our site to do with aviation.
